Dressing Room | I’m Back

Photo: A glimpse at my wardrobe relocated into one of our spare bedrooms during work prep.

LET’S CATCH UP

I missed posting during week four but certainly made up for it.  Week four was spent somewhere between waiting for product availability requests to be confirmed and me being way too excited about vacation to focus.  Now I’m back to reality with all moving parts of this project in motion.

THIS WEEK’S UPDATES

A full design board is finally shaping up, the work scope and timeline have been agreed upon with my contractor, wardrobe has all be moved out of the room, and I have amazing news to share: Sponsorship has been approved for the light fixture to be installed in the dressing room entrance!

LAYOUT LOVER

This week was spent focusing on final layout details for my own sanity and contractor notes.  As shared on Instagram, many of you know I love a good tape measure and paint tape therapy session. Ha!

In opting to create a boutique style dressing room vs. a walk-in what I love most is not feeling a need to have wall to wall shelving; which allows space for furniture, decor, a good size mirror, and possibly a little wall art.

Pro Tip: If you’re creating a dressing room using a galley or L-shaped layout for built-ins or cabinetry both layouts would be ideal, unless you truly need every square inch for clothing.

About my free wall space. I’ve decided to remove the wall AC unit and close up the empty space for the winter.  A mirror will most likely occupy this wall.  On the adjacent wall there will be space for a small sitting area and/ or a drop zone for occasions when more time is needed for getting dressed, packing for travels, etc.  Also, the reality of having a one year old golden-doodle means a pup following me everywhere (including to get dressed) and will need a corner to post up. If you’re a dog parent then you know the vibe.

DETAIL ME PLEASE

Okay ok.  I’m sharing one last detail, my light fixture selection sponsored by Alora Lighting. Alora is a contemporary brand by Kuzco Lighting, and their collection is in perfect alignment with my design aesthetic. Meet the Dahlia semi-flush mount in vintage brass and alabaster. Isn’t she stunning?!

About Alora. Some of you may recall that We’ve partnered in my One Room Challenge completed in spring 2022; my niece’s bedroom renovation. By the following fall we worked together again for a home project in my previous home in common areas. At the top of 2023 it was announced that I was featured in the catalog (page 6) as a brand ambassador. I’ve also sourced the brand for client projects. They have yet to disappoint.

Until next week stay tuned more progress will be shared in Instagram stories, and be sure to check out my fellow designers and DIYer participant’s updates on the main ORC website.  In case you missed it, this timeline was shared ing week three. See below.
