Powder Room Level Up Mission Accomplished!
A Quick Look Back
Welcome back!! Weeks 7 and 8 have been busy getting to this finish line. But first, a quick look back in case you’re tuning in here now for the first time.
My powder room on the main level in my home was newly renovated, along with the rest of my house prior to purchasing it. It was ok, but I have been planning to customize my home one space at a time this year. I felt the powder room needed to be leveled up a bit considering the location sits between my living room and dining rooms. And so the fun began for my second ORC project. This was definitely challenging, but I have zero regrets!
If you’re new to the blog or just missed the last 8 weeks of postings, you can catch up on all the weekly progress posts on this blog and the ORC Fall highlight on the Instagram feed. Now, details and more views. Shall we??
Marble Tile Appreciation
I am absolutely in love with the flooring gifted by The Tile Sop. This black Marquina marble tile is polished and filled with beautiful, natural veins. I chose to use the tiles in size 8”X20”. If you’ve been following along, you may recall I had a threshold dilemma in my Instagram stories due to the smaller sizing needed. This 2” threshold was worth the additional time needed to finish. It fit as perfect as I envisioned, and I’m so happy how this turned out.
Marble Sink Appreciation
This marble sink by Kingston Brass gives all the drama I wanted. I chose brushed brass for my console and wide spread faucet. I shared the work required for this sink to be installed (in week five blog and BTS in story highlight).
Two words; Worth It!

Design Details Recap
Besides this ‘level up’ redesign turning into a mini renovation project, there were a couple of details I mentioned in earlier weeks that were undecided. The first was crown moulding. I opted out and opted in for wallpaper on the ceiling instead. Adding the white medallion to the light fixture gave me the added layering I wanted to see here. The other item discussed was my window. Having no moulding I had an option to add or frame it out by layering the blinds with an outside mounted roman shade. Custom roman shades never disappoint for giving a window a finished look. Lastly, I swapped out the original blinds for custom fitting blinds. The length previously was about 12” too long. Next up, the smaller powder room.
The ORC Plot Twist
My second powder room in the lower level in my family room was added and announced around week five. It just made sense to go for it. To spite having to switch contractors to complete this floor install, it was well it.
The tile used here is the same marble tile gifted by The Tile Shop for my main level powder room. Besides the paint, changing the wall mirror, toilet paper holder, and window sill items were small details that gave big impact. And of course framed wall art upgraded the unframed canvas. Lastly, the sink top previously installed before I purchased the house was attached to the toilet tank. That has been removed until a small wall mount sink is feasible.
This marble flooring, black paint, and lighting change were instant upgrades that I’m well pleased with. The paint color is Tricorn Black by Sherwin Williams.
